Zero works part time at a pretty high class vampire establishment (he hates it, but puts up with it). You're feeling out of place and out of depth in this eerily beautiful crowd. Zero catches your eye and smiles a little (an honest one) because he knows how it feels to be out of place and treated with less respect because of class/race.
